Photo Policy
Photographs may be taken at library programs and events for promotional use such as press releases, our web site, and social media outlets. If individuals in a photo are to be named, a photo release will be obtained. Please notify staff if you prefer not to be photographed.

FAQs or Frequently Asked Questions for Dundee Library

Can I pay my library bills online with a credit card? Yes. We provide this service through Propay, a secure electronic online payment service.
Can I suspend a hold I have placed? Yes. You will not lose your place in the queue and the materials will not arrive for you while you’re gone. Follow these steps:
  • Log In to your account.
  • Select "Holds" tab: this page will show all of your active holds.
  • Select (checkbox) the title(s) you would like to suspend. Then, click the Suspend" button. A drop down calendar will appear. Select the suspension start date and end date.
  • When complete, you will see a message that says "Hold successfully suspended", and little calendar icon next to the item.

    Can I reserve an Internet or word processing computer?
    Yes, contact the Dundee Library's Adult Information Desk (847-428-3661, press option 3) for more specific information.  If you want to reserve a computer at the Randall Oaks Library please call 847-428-3661, choose option 4.

    Can I save to the hard drive of a library computer? We recommend you save to a usb flash drive which we sell at the front desk. You may save to a certain part of the hard drive but files are deleted frequently.

    Can I return materials from other libraries here? Yes.

    Do you accept a library card from another public library? Yes.

    Do you deliver materials to the homebound?
    Yes. If you or someone you know would like to participate in this program, please call 847-428-3661, press option 5.
Do you have a bookdrop at another location?
Yes, on the North side of the Osco store (Google Map) by Spring Hill Mall on Rt. 72. and the Culvers at the intersection of Randall Road and Huntley Road (Google Map). Outside of the new Randall Oaks Rec Center at 500 N. Randall Road.

Do you have a floorplan of the Dundee Library? Yes, it can be found on the Library Floorplan website.

Do you have a public fax machine? Yes, only at the Dundee Library's front Account Services Desk. $2.00 for the first page ; $1.00 for each additional page. If there is a cover letter, it counts as a page.

Do you have any job openings ? Please call the Business Office at 847-428-3661, choose option 5 or check our  job openings website.

Do the Friends of the Library accept material donations? Yes they do want audio-visual and print materials (except magazines) if they are in good condition.

Does the library have computers with Internet access and word processing? Does the library charge for printing from their computers?
Yes, at the Dundee Library contact the Adult Information Desk (847-428-3661, choose option 3 about how to reserve a computer. You can add value to your library card. If you want to reserve a computer at the Randall Oaks Library please call 847-428-3661, choose option 4.

Does the library proctor exams? This service is only available at the Dundee Library. Please call the Adult Information Desk (847-428-3661, choose option 3) for assistance or see our proctoring guidelines Proctoring Guidelines (pdf) (pdf).

Does the library have wireless access for patrons? Yes. You will be looking for the "DundeeLibrary" network at the Dundee Library, and "RanOaksLibrary" at our Randall Oaks location.

How will I be notified that my materials have come in?
Phone call, leaving a message on answering machine, or you can register to be notified via email. The email address you submit will only be used for library business such as hold notification, overdue notices, etc. All information in your record is kept confidential. You can also call 847-590-8706 to check overdues, renew items, find due dates or check what you have available for pick-up. Have your library card handy!
