Catalog Information

It's here! Welcome to Bibliocommons -- our new online catalog!
Finding books, movies, and music just got easier -- and a lot more fun!
BibliocommonsThe Fox River Valley Public Library has implemented an innovative online catalog to make finding library materials easier, faster, more intuitive, and a lot more fun.
Perhaps the biggest – and most exciting – change is that users will be able to add their own comments, reviews, and links to the library materials they are opinionated and passionate about. In turn, they will be able to view the remarks and recommendations made by others, thus creating a useful, interactive, and valuable resource.

Important tips for new users!
  • You do not need to log in if you just want to search and browse the collection. The function is available to everyone.

  • If you want to use functions specific to you such as place items on hold, pay bills online, create a list, etc. you must log in. To log in the first time, you will need your library card number (also know as Barcode). If you have already created a password in the previous online catalog system (iBistro), you may use that password. If not, use "patron" which is the default password. If you have any problems, call our  Account Services department at (847) 428-3661, Option 1 during library hours.

  • Once you have logged in for the first time, you can create a username and change your password if you wish.

  • What was previously called "My Account" is now called "My Dundee."

  • Our previous online catalog, iBistro, will still be available for a limited time. Click here if you would like to access that catalog.

  • Here are some helpful links to use as you become familiar with the new catalog:

Look for these functions when surfing the site!

Find. Behind the scenes, a smarter search gives you better results. And the sleek, modern interface provides easy ways to narrow or expand your search, or browse for related items.

Explore. Not sure what you’re looking for? Peruse bestsellers, new additions to the collection, award winners or materials that are generating a lot of interest. You can also browse the shelves virtually.

Share. Share your ratings, comments, tags and more with other users. Follow users with similar interest and tastes and get recommendations. You can also easily share your interests through your other accounts, like Facebook and Twitter.

Keep Track. Use your three virtual shelves (Complete, In Progress, and For Later) to keep track of all things books, music, and movies. Next time you can’t remember that title, you can check your shelves!

Create. Share your interests and enthusiasm about a topic by building lists to share within a community of users with similar tastes and interests.

Borrow. It's now even easier to place holds and renew items online!

Below are links to helpful "how to" videos about using Bibliocommons. These videos were created by the Northbrook Library, who also recently switched to the Bibliocommons online catalog.
We like to think of our web site and online catalog as a branch location of the library, located right at your fingertips – whether you’re at home, work, or sitting at a coffee shop with your laptop. Please bookmark and come on in!
